When using a scope, the idea is to get the line of the scope as close to the line of the barrel as possible. No matter what magnification you have or whatever other tools you use, if you can reduce the gap between those two almost parallel lines, then you'll have a good foundation for lining up your sight.

Some shooters prefer to use to mount their scopes low to the bore. That's why those shooters prefer low rings - they reduce the height of the scope's line of sight.
